Chef Ippy Aiona, owner of The Three Fat Pigs restaurant and gastropub and Ippy’s Hawaiian Barbecue, won an International Iron Chef Competition at the Hot & Spicy Food Festival Sept. 1 in Toronto.

Aiona defeated three chefs during the competition, which was hosted by “Iron Chef America’s” Kevin Brauch. Aiona’s winning dishes featured a beef carpaccio with a sauerkraut foam mousse, sauerkraut tempura and arugula spaghetti.

“It was a tough decision to make, but Chef Ippy worked his culinary magic and turned the secret ingredient into a delicious gastronomic creation,” said Melanie Fernandez, director of community and educational programs at Harbourfront Centre.
